Welcome Post

 Hello! It’s third term at DMUIC! I’m back after break to Art Portfolio TWO! Durning the break I competed in Bristol and I won a gold medal in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, I also was in Wales where I spend time with family in small village. In this term I would like to improve my writing on a blog, I want to learn more words and make my writing more natural and consistency, moreover I want to improve my painting skills. I really enjoy my major project of term two Art Portfolio One, where I made painting on canvas depicting movement and action in expressionist style. Additionally I would like to spent more time exploring artists and theirs drawing and painting. I excited to start using A.I as a tool to help me in my future artworks and projects. It could be shows new ways ,ideas etc of making an artwork. 

Initial Ideas Generation

In my project I will create a minimum of three panoramic studies for painted murals and two 3D maquettes as prototypes for large scale public art sculptures. Like in therm two I could do it on canvas.  

The project could be related to my nation, either historically, culturally or politically and should tell a story.

I misread and I thought it HAVE to be related not COULD. Now after that I realise my misread and it’s changing everything but coming back to the Initial Ideas… durning the Art Portfolio session I drew three words: MAGNET, ELASTIC, CROWD.

First I focused on word “Magnet” and I start sketching the ideas related to this word and my project. As I said before I thought it have not could be related to my culture , historically etc. And historically I have the WW2 in my head. Magnet also means for me something opposite, so I drawn on the bottom left a man who is in secret place and printing illegal newspapers which was illegal because Russian was occupation Poland. The guy who printings this newspaper was my grandfather who still life and btw he received a medal and extra money few years ago from polish government.

The next one on the bottom right depicts a random polish man who have to chose government and there is no good choice. Next one in the middle on the left depicts polish man durning war who was attacked from west by German and from right by Russian. Next one on the top right depicts 2 choices of polish random man one is go and work for police the second is be criminalist. And the last one I drawn later when I realise that my project could be related to food and I drawn two plates of polish traditional soup ,pomidorowa and żurek.

Moving on to second word which I drew was CROWD.

Here I draw quick sketch of husiaria. As wingedhorsemen.wordpress.com state  “…one of the greatest cavalry units in history, the Husaria of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. ” Husaria is very popular and polish people are very proud of their. 

The third world I drew was “ELASTIC” and I draw polish traditional dishes because I’m elastic and I can choose any of them and it anytime. First one is “schabowy” second “bigos” third “pierogi” and forth polish soup “żurek”

After that I talk with Rania my class mate and we made a discussion about our sketches we exchanged one of own works and looking on each other works we created their ideas upgraded and sketched how we see it and how we could do it.  So Rania’s have couple of ideas. One of them were to extend husaria’s wings from frame , wings could be made from clay with sculpted feather which could make work more realistic. Next one we’re to crowd of the army following behind the leader of the army. 

I like Rania’s ideas to create 3d wings and connect 2D with 3D. It will move my future artwork to the next level.

Reflection

 Sweep, Grip, Pull and Pass: Reflection

I remember my conversation with my Tutor Sam about my project, my first thought was ok, nothing really special,  just normal project for Art Portfolio. But my thoughts changes every day, I really enjoy the process ,every part was useful. From the beginning when im learnt how to cut wood etc on the wood workshop through ceramics workshop ,3D printings , Metal Fabrication etc… I created frames and stretched it after I painted it and one moment I feet pressure of tasks but I know this moment was moment of progress. I repainted three times paintings, and I could come back to this every moment I want. My project helped me and increase my painting skills, by the way I want to paint one painting for my lady in that style ,so big thanks for my Tutors Sam, Zoe for this project. I know im not super student and still I have a lot to learn… my writing on blog is still on “knees” but step by step, day by day, project by project I will grow up. I can’t wait for next term and next projects! I’m so excited what it will be?  At the end I forgotten to said about my teammates from BJJ.  It was extra advantage for this project that I was involved my friends to it. As people said its like  “kill two birds with one stone”. 

Website update: Gallery

  Today I updated my Portfolio/Gallery website. At the beginning I copied one of my gallery page and then changed pictures, text, etc… 

Then after conversation with Sam I decided to create one subpage in my gallery/portfolio and this subpage will include Introduction plus it will be divided to three another subpages such as paintings, drawings, sculptures.

Next I added buttons “back to portfolio” etc

Then I changed text of these buttons to back to S.G.P.P that mean“Sweep, Grip, Pull and Pass”, next I checked everything, adjust a sizes of images, manipulate the text etc

Process post: 3D Sculptures

Here I began from drill a holes for my sculpture skeleton

Then I manipulate a wire to get a correct poses. 

In the next step I wrapped the wire by masking tape to get better connection with clay. Before I did this I spoke with my college Weronika and she suggested me this step. For double check I asked my Tutor Sam about his opinion of this idea and he agree it.

Next I started adding clay to create basic shapes of my sculptures.

Then I stared adding details, create heads etc…

After I added more clay in areas where it was needed. I used tools to create a facture on a Gi(kimono/clothes)  

When I have done my sculptures I moved on to cleaning the base.

And then finally paint it.

After that I moved on to my “testing sculpture” and I add two layers of the primer.

When primer dried I started adding a colours. 

Reflection: The sculpture went well, definitely my skill are growing up every day, In a future I want to work more with the sculptures. I want to focus on paintings/sculptures/drawings in one word CREATING. 

Website update: About page

Today I updated my about page ,first separate text to three paragraphs then I added a few sentences to each paragraph. 

Then I moved on to change position of a background. 

At the end I checked the mobile view ,made changes of a background too to fit it in best way.

 
The about me text now looks well. It was necessary to update it. I hope I will updating it in a future. 

Workshop Sessions: Sculpture Facility Workshop

 This day I went to the “Sculpture Facility Workshop” At the beginning I started from manipulate basic square from air drying clay then I created a my own art in that clay. Using tools I dig in a square of clay. When I have done I moved on to create “wall” around my art to add mixture of  water plus something… 

When the mixture was fully dried I removed the wall around, next I spin upside down my art and put a hot wax inside,

Then to cool down my object I put it into the cold water.

When it was in room temperature I took off the wax from the form. The final effect depict a “heart” and a “flower”.

*By creating this ,my skill in manipulation of clay makes better and its mastered on higher level, I learnt that material could be used in different way that mean as “negative”.
