Software practice: Cartoon Yourself in Procreate

I have chosen to develop my skills in procreate on the iPad Pro. I watched a YouTube tutorial “How To Cartoon Yourself in Procreate.”

Following the instructions, I opened Procreate and selected a photo. Then, I created a new layer.

Next, I set the opacity to 50% and started drawing on the new layer.

After I finished the contour, I started creating shadows. I selected the original photo then  selected the “blur” effect, and set it to 7% to blend the colours in the original photo. This was helpful because, for example, on the face, there was too many different colours.

Then, I chose the blended colour and started adding colour. After that, I created a new layer for shadows and used a different color for that.

Next I added highlights.

I was almost finished. I just needed to add the background. I selected a colour and applied it to the background after I add a white line around my character.

I really took a lot of steps and it’s hard to describe everyting in detail I was focused on finishing it.I chose an old photo and better one would be with more details. At the beginning i missclicked on touch screen and I deleted one of my layer so the final outcome is not exactly like on YouTube video.

  1. Okay you changed yourself into a cartoon I am not sure that there is a huge amount of skill in this - perhaps you ought to look at digital painting
